OUR PHILOSOPHY
Rain City Fit began as a small boot camp in Miller Park with a simple belief: everyone deserves access to strength in a space where they feel safe and respected.
As a queer-affirming, community-driven gym, we are committed to equity in access, transparency in our practices, and reinvesting our energy and resources back into vulnerable communities. Alongside being a gym space, we host events, meets, and fundraisers that uplift and protect the people around us.
Our business prioritizes safety, transparency, and equity. That means no hidden fees or slimey contracts, inclusive policies, evidence-based and compassionate trainers, and community events that support and uplift marginalized groups. Strength should never be gatekept, and we work to remove the barriers that keep people out of fitness spaces.
ABOUT US:
Ben Koenigsberg (he/him) ben@raincityfit.com
I’m Ben, founder of Rain City Fit.
RCF started in 2015 as an outdoor boot camp in Miller Park, then grew into an 800 sq. ft. basement gym, and eventually became the comically large and weird and cool community space that it is today. Back in my youth, I was a NASM-Certified Personal Trainer and spent time coaching and teaching group exercise at the YMCA before launching my own training business.
Finding my passion for fitness completely changed my life, and building a place where others can find their own path has always been the heart of Rain City Fit. I’m proud to help create a gym where everyone— every identity, every experience level — feels safe, welcomed, and supported.
Most days you’ll find me fixing equipment, scrubbing toilets, or looking grumpy (jk, Le wrote this. Ben is super nice, I promise!!). But mostly, I’m here to help make this space safe, affirming, and fun for every single person who walks in.
Leanna Carr (they/them) leanna@raincityfit.com
I’m Leanna (or Le) and I'm Co-Owner of Rain City Fit. I partnered with Ben as an owner of RCF and the Barbell Clubs in 2019 after years of coaching and community-building in strength sports. I have an M.S. in Sport–Exercise Psychology, and for more than a decade I’ve worked as a personal trainer and strength/mental performance coach, helping people build skills that support both their physical development and their overall well-being.
My coaching philosophy blends evidence-based strength training with the mental tools that support confidence, resilience, and self-autonomy. Just as importantly, I’m committed to creating an inclusive, empowering gym environment where folks of all identities can safely explore their strength and appreciate their bodies.
Beyond day-to-day gym operations, I serve as Director of RCPU and Pride Deadlift Party where we regularly host non-sanctioned strength events focused on raising money for marginalized and vulnerable communities. These events reflect what matters most to Rain City Fit: uplifting people, expanding access to strength sports, and building a community rooted in equity, joy, and collective power.
